Jeromy Farkas – A Calgary Mayoral Candidate

Born in Calgary and to immigrant parents, Jeromy Farkas’ story is one of dedication, commitment, and hard work. From delivering flyers at the age of 8 to working at a shingle factory, Jeromy has enjoyed rolling up his sleeves and working hard from a young age, and this hard work mindset has carried into his career.

Jeromy received a degree in Political Science from the University of Calgary. Not long after, he started his entrepreneurial career with a small business involved in data analysis and technology. Yet, during his career, Jeromy felt the need to serve Calgarians after watching jobs being lost and how City Hall had become “out-of-touch” with its constituents. Thus, in 2017, he became the Councillor for Calgary’s Ward 11.

During his time as Councillor for Calgary’s Ward 11, Jeromy has championed initiatives to freeze and lower residential and business taxes over the last four years, reduce spending at City Hall and has been supportive of the oil and gas industry. He even partnered with another councillor to successfully advocate for Calgary to replace all the lead pipes in the city. Moreover, Jeromy has also advocated for wage reductions for politicians and successfully eliminated the mayor’s second pension. Finally, he is also known for having declined a generous City Council pension.

As mayor, Jeromy wants to focus on economic growth, financial responsibility within the city’s government, better core services, and building Calgary for the 21st century. You can view Jeromy’s priorities on his website https://www.jeromy.ca/the-priorities.

Jeromy enjoys spending time outdoors, cycling, and running. He even competes in the Calgary Ironman 70.3 and acts as a career mentor to post-secondary students.
