Jan Damery – A Calgary Mayoral Candidate

Jan Damery is a community leader who was born and raised in Edmonton. Yet, she moved to Calgary after being drawn to its energy, vibrancy, and proximity to the mountains. Being the first in her family to graduate from university, Jan attributes her hard working and passionate personality to her parents.

She has spent a lot of time working in the oil and gas industry in senior positions at TransCanada Pipelines, which includes her work as the President of TransCanada Hot Taps Ltd. Since 2016, Jan has worked at YW Calgary, a women’s shelter in Calgary. She now serves as its VP of External Relations and Engagement.

Jan is also committed to her volunteer work within the community. She has worked with the United Way of Calgary, a Calgary charity and Aga Khan University, one of the world’s foremost promoters of human welfare, as its director and organizer. She has also volunteered to bolster Calgary’s arts, forestry, and tech sector.

At the center of Jan’s mayoral platform is her commitment to revamp Calgary. She wants to make Calgary’s government more efficient when it comes to regulations regarding local businesses and jobs, improve the city’s transportation, especially sidewalks, and make clearer what Calgary’s budget goes towards.
